This tutorial will show you how to setup a VPN on your Blackberry Playbook with VPNReactor. If you don’t have a VPNReactor VPN account, then signup here.

Download our Security Certificate  

1. PC: Download the VPNReactor CA Security Certificate and unzip to your PC.

2. Playbook: Go to your settings menu.

3. Playbook: Go to Storage & Sharing  

          Make sure that Wifi sharing and file sharing are turned on.

4. Playbook & PC: Wi-Fi Network          

         Make sure your both your PC & Playbook are using the same Wi-Fi network.

 

5. Playbook: Go to: About / Network / Wi-fi / IPv4

6. PC: Go to: Start menu / Search field

          Go to your Windows start menu and then your search box. Type in “\\your.playbook.ip” and hit “return” to navigate to your playbook file system.

            Note: You must have previously installed the Blackberry Playbook tools on your PC in order to browse it’s file system

7.  PC: Go to: Certs Folder          

         You should now see two folders. Open your ‘Certs’ folder.

8. PC: Copy ‘ca.vpnreactor’ to Certs folder          

         Copy the VPNReactor CA Security Certificate to your Certs folder.

9. Playbook: Go to: Settings / Security / Certificates

          Now it’s time to import the VPNReactor Security Certificate into your Playbook. Tap on ‘Certificates’.

10. Playbook: Go to: Import

         Once in the Certificates settings, Tap on ‘import’.

11. Playbook: Import Certificates section

          Once in the ‘Import Certificates’ settings, set the following:

     1. Check ‘VPN’

     2. Class: ‘Trusted Authority’

     When set….Click ‘Next’

12. Playbook: Select ‘ca.vpnreactor.cer’

          Once in the Import Certificates screen, select ‘ca.vpnreactor.cer’ then tap on ‘Import’.

          Note: if you don’t see ‘ca.vpnreactor.cer’ listed, go back to Step 11 and make sure “Class:’Trusted Authority’ is selected. Otherwise repeat steps 1-11.

13. Playbook: Go to: Settings / Security / Certificates / All Certificates

          Now go back to the Certificates screen and select ‘All Certificates’. Scroll down until you see ‘sstp.vpnreactor.com’ If you see it then you can now proceed to setup your VPN. If not repeat steps 1-12.

         You may now have successfully imported the VPNReactor Security Certificated.

         Now lets setup your VPN.

Playbook VPN Setup

1. Playbook: Tap on ‘Settings’.

2. Playbook: Under ‘Security’, go to ‘VPN’.

3. Playbook: Tap ‘Add New’ to create your new VPNReactor VPN Profile.

4. Playbook: Then configure as follows:

For Playbook OS 1.0 Settings

  • Profile Name: vpnreactor
  • Server Address: (Enter any SSTP VPNReactor Address)
    CLICK HERE FOR SERVER LOCATIONS
  • Gateway Type: Microsoft IKEv2 VPN Server
  • Authentication Type: EAP-MSCHAPv2
  • Authentication ID Type: IPv4
  • MSCHAPv2 EAP Identity: ( Your VPNReactor Username )
  • MSCHAPv2 Username: ( Enter your VPNReactor Username again)
  • MSCHAPv2 Password: ( Your VPNReactor password )
  • Gateway Auth Type: PKI
  • Gateway Auth ID Type: Identity Certificate Distinguished Name
  • Gateway CA Certificate: sstp.vpnreactor.com

For Playbook OS v 2.0 Settings:

  • Profile Name: vpnreactor
  • Server Address: (Enter any SSTP VPNReactor Address)
    CLICK HERE FOR SERVER LOCATIONS
  • Gateway Type: Microsoft IKEv2 VPN Server
  • Authentication Type: EAP-MSCHAPv2
  • Authentication ID Type: Fully Qualified Domain Name
  • Authentication ID: ( Your VPNReactor Username )
  • MSCHAPv2 Password: ( Your VPNReactor Password )
  • Gateway Auth Type: PKI
  • Gateway Auth ID Type: Identity Certificate Distinguished Name
  • Gateway CA Certificate: sstp.vpnreactor.com

Click ‘Save’ then ‘Connect’.

5. It should show that you are now CONNECTED.

6. HOORAY! You are now connected and can enjoy being anonymous online. To verify that your VPN is working, you can visit www.vpnreactor.com and must show that YOUR IP ADDRESS IS SECURED.
